Trizanne Signature Wines wins top South African Trophy

We’re delighted to announce that our good friend Trizanne and her very talented vineyard and winemaking teams have scooped up one of South Africa’s most coveted wine awards at the Old Mutual Trophy Wine Show for the Reserve Syrah, which achieved an outstanding 97 points.

In total 673 Cape wines were entered in the competition. 32 gold medals were awarded, of which 16 won trophies with the Reserve Syrah winning the Business Day Shiraz Trophy. Harvested from vineyards in Elim, this is a great example of a cool-climate Syrah style, with minimal intervention and 11 months ageing in a combination of new and older French oak.

Trizanne earned her winemaking stripes at the historic Klein Constantia estate, before setting out on her own in 2008 to form Trizanne Signature Wines, focusing on the regions of Elim on the southernmost tip of the Western Cape and by contrast, the hot, dry climate of Swartland. For a taste of Trizanne’s winemaking skills, seek out The Search, available in Waitrose. This blend of Grenache, Marsanne and Roussanne combines elements of ripe peachy fruit, minerality and richness for something just a bit different from your usual dry white. Or head to Majestic for the TSW range including a bright, bold Cinsault and a smooth, ripe Marsanne/Roussanne white blend.
